This ‘About’ page will be short but sweet:
I was a (half hearted) vegetarian for twenty years and then, in January 2012, with no forethought or prior planning, I decided to try a ‘Vegan Monday’ (figuring it was the equivalent of a ‘Meat Free Monday’ for a pre-existing vegetarian). Monday, rolled into Tuesday, Tuesday to Wednesday, Wednesday to Thursday and the rest, as they say, is history.
The surprising thing is: I don’t just eat differently, I live differently.
Its amazing, I hope I can share just some of that with you through this blog.
I am vegetarian, but I am trying to Vegan up my food choices. Unfortunately my choices are limited because of my location. I will be interested read your blog. Congratulations on starting a blog in the first place. 🙂 Also thank you for visiting my blog.
Hi Liz, I can’t begin to imagine the challenge it may be for you to get hold of ingredients, I sometimes find it difficult living in a city in the UK! Good luck with the veganizing and with the marathon training – its a real commitment to make, I’m sure you will be fantastic
Thanks! 🙂
Thanks for your blog and your following mine. I will have to figure out how to use your recipes without added oil (for cooking or otherwise) but love your chili recipe. Here in Texas, chili is not authentic without plenty of cumin.
I would like to know more “about” you, like where do you live, do you grow any of your own stuff, etc? And, what do you mean about “living differently?”
All the best!
Hi Dwight, great to here from you and thanks for your comment. You could soften the onions using a little water or vegetable stock instead of oil (although be careful to keep them moving around so that they don’t stick to the pan), not sure if soya is too high fat content, if so, I would replace with some extra beans – maybe pinto and butter beans would make a great combination. You’re right there is not much information on here about me yet – or about how my life has changed since I became vegan – this is something I will think about and try to explore in my posts coming up. In the mean time, I live in the Midlands in the UK, and yes, my husband and I have a huge allotment – unfortunately, its unseasonably cold and rainy here at the moment so there isn’t nearly as much growing as we’re used to. Take care, S

Wow, thanks Liz – My first award, yipppeeeee! You’re right there is a bit of work for me to do here, I’d better get cracking and hope to have a response posted out soon
I love your quote “I am vegan, hear me ROOOAAAAARRRRRRR!” .. would you be ok if I put that on my vegan blog?
Hi Smiles, that would be great. I’m not too tech savvy but I couldn’t find a link to your blog from your gravatar – please let me know where you are at so I can pay you a visit!
I’m trying to get caught up reading about those who have been kind enough to follow or like my posts. I realize that living in the states I take for granted how accessible many things are, including food items that those abroad cant get. Thank you for the reminder. I am humbled and will be more grateful!
Great to hear from you here on HFTB. I look forward to following your progress. I think we’re pretty lucky here too although I will still never quite recover from the shock of visiting a supermarket in San Fran and seeing an entire fridge full of tofu products, it was like tofu heaven!
Thanks for being my first follower! I’ve been having a good search through your recipes, I’ll have to try some of them out. Subsequently you are now the first person I’m following! :D!
How fun that I am your first follower and thanks for following me! It’s great to keep in touch with people with shared interests. Good luck with your continued blogging endeavours! S
